Today is 09/11/2009. For my generation we will talk of this like my parents did of the Kennedy assassination; we know where we were and remember it vividly. We as a nation came together to support one another after this tragedy. That was a great time for us as a nation.
Because of that memory it frustrates me that people use it for their own gain. Particularly those who have chose 09/12/2009 to protest the democratically elected government. It is not the protest that I have a problem with. It is the use of the memory and emotion of 09/11/2001 that is being invoked as a reason for these protests when they have NOTHING TO DO with why we came together as a nation. These protesters are not coming together to protest the Taliban or Osama Bin Laden (who has still not been captured after two wars), they are protesting the elected officials, elected by the majority mind you. Sounds like sore losers to me. They have every right to protest as do ALL AMERICANS. As life goes on and you and I move forward with our lives (baby #4 will be born on 09/16/2009) remember how you felt on 09/11/2009. Remember how you helped your fellowman and felt pride for living in a nation where you the right to elect those who share your views. Remember that left, right, or middle we are ALL AMERICANS. We all deserve respect and should respect all others. Who cares about some 09/12 group trying to ride the coattails of an importatnt memory?
You and I have our own memories from that fateful day. Live to honor THOSE memories.
